Hair follicle, lab based testing results are available in 10 business days.

  • Hair Follicle testing offers the longest window of detection. 90 days on a standard test.
  • If the donor doesn’t have head hair, body hair can be used. Drug usage can be detected up to one year in body hair.
  • Hair Follicle Collection is safe and simple. (No handling of body fluids) Specimens cannot be adulterated or substituted.

ALCOHOL TESTING

The Procedure:

Instruct donor not to eat, chew, or drink anything at least 10-15 mins prior to testing. Gum and mouthwash can leave alcohol residue in your mouth.

We use Alco Screen 02 alcohol saliva swabs. These are DOT Approved and can detect alcohol up to 0.02%.

If a positive result is detected using the ALCO screen (0.02%) we will perform a breath test to determine exact alcohol levels. Another confirmation breath test is done after a 15 minute wait.

No eating, drinking, smoking is not allowed during this wait period. Donor must try to refrain from belching. The wait will be monitored. The employer will be notified of all non-negative results.

E.B.T. (Evidential Breathalyzer Testing Device)

Our clinic uses the Alco-Sensor IV – EBT

Used in law enforcement and public safety.

Strict accuracy checks and calibrations are performed and logged on a regular basis to ensure our equipment is performing efficiently.

ETG –  Ethyl Glucuronide – Lab based testing to determine alcohol levels in your body.

All urine and saliva tests are available in instant testing and lab based testing.

When instant testing results are not sufficient we can escalate the level of testing to lab based testing. All laboratories that we use are certified by the substance abuse and mental health services (SAMHSA), a division of the US Dept of Health and Human Services (HHS).

What determines the result of a test?

If a substance is above the cutoff levels, they will appear as a positive during the screening process. If the substance is below the cutoff levels, they will be reported as a negative. Drug testing cutoff levels are the minimum concentrations of drugs or metabolites that must be present in specimens.

What determines the levels that we can detect?

It depends on time of ingestion or exposure, frequency of use, type of specimen, metabolism, and other factors. Cutoffs are measured in units of nanograms per milliliter ng/ml. Test results below these levels will have a negative reading. The lab confirms the test results by using a couple of different screening processes.

Gas Chromatography (GC):

Chromatography is when the sample mixture is vaporized and injected into a stream of carrier gas (nitrogen or helium) moving through a column containing a stationary phase composed of a liquid or a particulate solid and is separated into its component compounds according to the affinity of the compounds for the stationary phase.

Mass Spectrometry (MS):

An instrumental method for identifying the chemical constitution of a substance by means of the separation of gaseous ions according to their differing mass and charge – also called mass spectroscopy.

All lab based testing includes MRO (medical review officer confirmation) services.
